A member favourite for the summer term is always making bottle rockets which are made as follows:

  1. Take one plastic bottle
  2. Stick on cardboard fins
  3. Fill with water
  4. Pump full of air
  5. Run for your life!

#Love your neighbour

At Youth Club everyone has noticed how many crazy and alarming things have been going on in the world over the last few weeks. Some of them have been surprising and unknown, other things have been very wrong and upsetting and as a group we've been strongly against them.

As a group we are uniting behind a new project based in our local area called #LoveYourNeighbour. The idea is to spread love in the world by something something kind and welcoming for the people around us, both people we know and people we don't, with the hope that they will in turn do something kind for somebody else. We are getting involved in order to make the world a better place one small action at a time.

We all agreed that out safety was important and we should not do anything which puts us in danger but the sorts of small things we could do include:

  • Hold a door for someone
  • Smile, wave or say "hello"
  • Let someone go in front of you
  • Talk to someone who wants to chat
  • Donate to charity
  • Give up your seat on the train or bus for someone who needs it
Hopefully we can help to make our city and our world a kinder and more inclusive place.

Youth club plays with toys

Tonight we had a quieter night because of exams so, instead of acting like adults youth club spent the evening making obstacle courses for remote controlled cars.

Youth club get thinking with DingBats

Tonight we're getting our brains a-working by doing some DingBats. The theory is to just say what you see, but thats easier said than done.
Any idea what the answer is to this one?

Cola blind taste test

Tonight at youth club we're testing our members taste buds with a blind taste test.  They insist that they'll be able to tell the original  Coca Cola from the supermarket  own brands. We will see whether they're as good as they think they are or whether it's just the power of the brand.

AND THE WINNER IS...

Pepsi was voted the tastiest cola on offer and only 1 person was able to work out which brand was which.  Everyone agreed it was all sugary and amazing and made your teeth feel like they were going to melt which was a good thing.

Youth Club collection for refugees

This week at youth club groups of members were given their £1 subs back to visit the Coop and use the money to buy goods to be given to the Red Cross in order to be distributed to refugees who have recently arrived in UK.

A lot of thought was put into the task and we're really pleased with the range of things purchased.
